Summary:
"Ebony" issue contains photograph and brief mention of Ralph J. Bunche in article "Negroes in White House Society." Original exhibition caption: "Ralph Bunche was a statesman, scholar, and socially prominent African American. 'Ebony' magazine published this photograph of Mr. and Mrs. Bunche arriving at the White House in 1955 (lower left). In the 1940's, 'Ebony' emerged as one of the first national magazines created by and for black Americans. 'Ebony' is on the newsstands in 2005 and is still owned and managed by the John H. Johnson family." (Caption by Fath Ruffins?)
