Mamer, a former high school and university Home Economics teacher, was a Home Electrification Specialist for the newly established Rural Electrification Administration. Her work involved demonstrating and promoting electrification to rural Americans. She died in December, 2005.
Papers used by Mamer in her teaching and demonstration of concepts and usage of electricity to rural audiences, including demonstration notes, talking points and training materials; technical information on appliances; publications, some written by Mamer, on subjects relating to agriculture and electrification; and a few papers relating to the Rural Electriciation Administration. The addendum includes photographs; Mamer's writings and notes including extensive card files on products and on topics relating to electricity and home economics; newsletters of various rural electric cooperatives (including some on Indian reservations) and telephone cooperatives; recipes and recipe collections compiled by the cooperatives; and a scrapbook of articles on topics related to rural electrification.
