Notes:
During July 1942, seven months after the United States entered World War II, magazines nationwide featured the American flag on their covers. Adopting the slogan "United We Stand", some five hundred publications featured the U.S. flag in an effort to promote unity and patriotism, rally support for the war, increase the sale of war bonds, and observe Independence Day.

Magazines and magazine covers published during World War II, featuring the U.S. flag on their covers. 2007 addendum: 1.66 cubic feet of additional magazines and covers. 2010 addendum: an additional one and one third cubic feet of magazines and covers from July 1942.
