According to Diane Vogt-O'Connor, Guide to Photographic Collections at the Smithsonian Institution, Vol. I, p. 123, the "collection was assembled by an anonymous donor to document the work of Chester O. Dale, a civil engineer. Dale was with the Braden Copper Company Hydraulic Power Development at Pangal, India," 1908-1920: but Pangal is in Chile, not India.
Specifications, proposals, charts, and diagrams for United States Department of the Interior, Reclamation Service projects, 1908-1918; notebook of calculations for the Roosevelt Power Plant, 1913; files on Bureau of Reclamation projects, 1915-1920; and trade publications. Also, material on the Braden Copper Company Hydraulic Power Development, Pangal, Chile, including captioned, mounted silver gelatin photoprints; cyanotypes; documents on engineering projects in Mexico; etc. Photographs depict diversion dams, exciters, main feeder excavations, penstocks, powerhouses, surge tanks, transformers, water turbines, and woodstave power lines. Also carbon copy of a letter to "Brother" Chester Dale with by-laws of the Braden Masonic Society.
