The Historic Photographs of Addison N. Scurlock. Washington, D.C.: The Corcoran Gallery of Art (exhibition catalog).
Dunbar, poet and novelist, was born in Dayton,Ohio, the son of two former slaves. He was the first important African American poet in American Literature. In the Corcoran catalog, Robert Scurlock dated this image "ca. 1907," so it may represent a copy negative made by A.N.S. after Dunbar's death.
Evidently from a copy negative by Addison Scurlock; print credited to him by Robert Scurlock in Corcoran exhibition catalog.
Unframed print, 618.226875A: "Paul Laurence Dunbar / poet" in ink on verso with studio rubber stamp. Probably made by Robert Scurlock from a copy negative, ca. 1970s. Unframed print located in Box 5.
