The Indianapolis Museum of Art has several pavilions and a civic theater located in the Showalter Pavilion. The 150 acres was the estate of J. K. Lilly called Oldfields. In 1909, the advice of George McDougall, a Scottish Landscape Architect helped plan the border plantings, building sites and road- ways. Hugh McK. Landon selected a site overlooking the canal.
