Notes:
The Italian, Baroque style villa is similar to the Villa Gori at Sienna, Villa Cuzzano near Verona and the Villa Spada on the Janiculum. The inspiration of architecture and formal detail are shown in this Georgian house. Neil Reid, landscape architect, designed the grounds in 1923 for Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Calhoun. A boundary screen from the road consists of cedars and cherry laurels. The sunken garden sets back in the tree covered hill and there are views from the courtyard overlooking the orchard, cutting garden, and vineyard toward the farm. The formal terraces contain a boxwood garden, wall fountain, and large terra cotta jars and stone pots. On the bottom of the terraces are two baroque statues at each side of the wide shallow steps.
