Notes:
Dr. Samuel Ayres traveled to Hawaii in 1939 and becaame interest in the colorful plant materials. He traveled to South America, South Africa, the Mediterranean, Australia and New Zealand collecting and growing plants. In 1947, he was a part of a committee and the state purchase property from Henry Chandler in the town of Arcadia. The 127 acres is called the Los Angeles State and County Arboretum. Queen Anne Cottage.
