Notes:
It is likely that Garrett Neville was the uncle of Colonel Robert Neville of Pelham (VA160). According to his obituary in the New York Times, February 19, 1910, Colonel Neville was a native of Ireland who had spent time in Australia before coming to Virginia in the 1870s. See Sir Bernard Burke and Ashworth Peter Burke, A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Landed Gentry of Ireland, 9th ed. (London: Harrison & Sons, 1899), p. 326.
