The garden was visited on June 30, 1936, by the Garden Club of America during its French garden tour. At the time of the visit Hôtel de Béhague or Béarn was the property of Martine-Maria-Pol de Béhague, Countess of Béarn. After its sale in 1939 it became the Romanian embassy and remains so today.
