Purchase 1999: Six 16 x 20-inch silver-gelatin, selenium-toned archival photographic prints of Duke Ellington performing and recording music in Hollywood and Monterey, California and Las Vegas, Nevada, 1955-1960.
Gift, 2007: Addendum of 22 prints consists of photographs of the following artists: Louis Armstrong (2), Halima and Chet Baker, Ray Charles, Roosevelt Charles, Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Dizzy Gillespie, Elvin Jones, Stan Kenton and his band, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mulligan, Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Frank Sinatra, Dinah Washington, Cootie Williams, George Williams' brass band, and Joe Williams. Also included is a photograph of a scene in Times Square.
