Chamberlain graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in mechanical engineering, 1949; graduate work toward MBA, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Joined Giddings & Lewis, Inc., a Wisconsin machine-tool builder, 1954; became one of the first numerical control programmers in the United States; later executive positions with company. Retired 1983. Active in professional societies, author of articles on numerical control of machine tools, computer-assisted manufacturing, information systems, and quality assurance.
