Garnette Olive Hamilton was crowned Queen of the Hoboes for life in 1957. The Hoboes of America Organization was formed in 1908 by Jeff Davis as a non-profit service group to aid local charities and to encourage runaways to return home. Garnette earned the title Queen due to her good deeds for others in need. She has also been editor and publisher of the Hobo Newsletter since 1980. The "hobo" concept is tongue-in-cheek for this group, whose members appear to be retirees who enjoy traveling by automobile.
Newspaper articles, photographs, pamphlets, souvenirs, scrapbooks, and newsletters on Hamilton's reign as Queen of the Hoboes; plus a brief history of the organization from 1908 to 1987; also an unpublished manuscript, "Hobo Tales of the Open Road" by Rose Marie Jackson.
