Summary:
Material documenting the origin and development of the telegraph and of the Western Union Company: includes patents, drawings, photographs, books, articles, clippings, administrative records, and technical documents concerning personnel, equipment, policies, and the general history of the company; also a log book concerning cable for 1934 with correspondence.
2002 Addendum: .25 cubic foot of old newsletters from the Western Union Telegraph Company.
2003 Addendum: One photograph of a Western Union School classroom for teletyping.
First 2005 Addendum: 0.5 cubic foot of booklets and catalogs, including Western Union Telegraph Company plant drawings and specifications.
2nd 2005 addendum:1/3 cubic foot of contracts between the Western Union Telegraph Company and the United Telegraph Workers, 1966-1985.
Second 2005 Addendum: Archival materials, 1884-1969, consisting mostly of Western Union publications of a public relations nature, and a few internal business records.
2006 Addendum: Approximately three cubic feet of Western Union materials including scrapbooks, clippings, a photo album and internal reports.
