Collected by Charles E. McTiernan about 1929-1931, apparently while a high school student in Brooklyn, New York.
Summary:
Scrapbooks include press clippings, mainly photographs of major league baseball players; pamphlets, including playing records of individual players; and a few loose newspaper clippings. Many newspaper photograph clippings of well-known players of the period include posed head and full-length portraits as well as numerous action pictures of batters, fielders and pitchers. No indication of dates or names of the publications. One scrapbook includes handwritten essays for a history class as well as the sports clippings.
The five pamphlets about various aspects of baseball include three published by manufacturers of baseball equipment. One, published by "Baseball Magazine", is a compilation of annual lifetime playing statistics on batting and pitching for over 200 major league players for 1903-1928.
