This Profile of George Washington was taken from his Shadow, and cut and stitched to the blue paper by his wife Martha Washington. It was presented to Gov'r Bowdoin of Mass. who made a donation of it to the Boston Museum when first founded. After his death it was purchased of the proprietor, Mr. Doyle, by its late owner, Michael Paff, Esq'r, of New York. [P. 14.]
