The Falls of Tivoli near Rome, painted by R. Peale (unfinished). These falls and surrounding Romantic rocks are often misrepresented by being painted from pencil sketches and imperfect recollections. This is intended as a Portrait of the scene and was studied in oil colours on the spot. [P. 15.]
