This numerous Gallery of ancient and modern Italian Paintings is enriched by a complete collection of many thousand beautiful engravings, some of them in plain frames, and a large quantity in portfolios. Mr. Sanguinetti, and other Italian artists in connection with him have spared neither time nor labour to make this collection one of the most select and complete in Europe. The best and freshest proofs, among which a great many before lettering, have been collected with an indefatigable diligence, and without any regard for the considerable expenses which were required for such an enterprise. All the works published by the most celebrated artists of this kind, as Raphael Morghen, Volpaso, Longhi, Garavaglia and Toschi, form a part of this collection; besides an immense number of other engravings, very rare, and much appreciated by the best connoisseurs.
