Born at Lyons in 1630, died in 1682, aged 52. This artist was instructed by his uncle, and became a reputable painter and a member of the Royal Academy at Paris. DESCRIPTION. This little picture is a beautiful specimen of the master, the subject of which is the Virgin and Child: there is a sweet expression in the face of the Virgin, and is painted with a delicate pencil; the casting of the drapery is cleverly managed, and the colouring is remarkably good:--from the collection of John B. Bastede, Esq. of England. [P. 38.]
