All the above picture [sic] comprise part of the valuable collection gathered up in Europe by Mr. Hiram Sibley, and generously loaned to the Academy of Art. It will be noted, that they are nearly all representative works of the old masters, such as have never been seen before in this country. As art treasures, showing the costumes and customs of the times, in which the different artists lived they are priceless and the artist will find them invaluable as studies of composition, drawing and coloring.
