"Cupid is holding the mirror to a beautiful girl engaged in adorning her hair with flowers, one of which she holds in her right hand. Whatever the lesson the sculptor may have intended to convey - and there are many possible - he has given us an attractive group, well conceived and proportioned, and executed with a good deal of daring."
