"Titian. (see no. 554.) martyrdom of St. Peter the Dominican. 21 x 32. Original destroyed by fire in 1867 in the church of St. John and Paul, at Venice. The saint was assassinated by the hired bravos of two Venetian noblemen, whom he had accused of heresy and whose property had been confiscated. This is a very small copy by Rodolfi."
