"Jean Baptiste Greuze. Copy. Greuze was one of the most celebrated French painters of his time (1725-1805). The broken pitcher. 33 x 41. The maiden has been engaged in doing something else than fetching water, as the hole in the pitcher testifies. Probably in stooping to gather the flowers she holds, she has knocked the pitcher against a stone."
