This Painter, seeing one of his friends leaving for Canada with the intention of opening there a tobacconist's shop, offered him that picture to be used like a sign. Mr. Legare observing that picture outside, offered to buy it, but was refused; the owner at the same time perceiving that it had some value, kept it afterwards inside his shop.
