This Artist, born at Haerlem in 1444, painted in a grand style, principally in oil. He had a free and masterly manner of handling with a good expression and a natural and lively tint of colouring. He was particularly exact in the extremities of his figures and in the disposition of his draperies; and wherever he introduced landscape in his designs, it was accounted to be in a style superior to any of his contemporaries.
