Nathan Smith was Born in Rehoboth, Mass., September 30th, 1762. He early removed with his parents to Vermont. At the age of twenty-four, having witnessed a surgical operation, he directed his attention to the structure of the human body; . . . Dr. Smith died in New Haven, January 26th, 1829, in the 67th year of his age. This portrait was painted by S.F.B. Morse, and presented to the College by the medical class of 1825-6. [P. 18.]
