"Born in Honesdale. Was a pupil of L.E. Wilmarth, and of the National Academy, New York, 1870-79. Received first prize in the antique school of the Academy, 1874; first prized in the life school, 1879. First exhibited, 1876, at the National Academy. Studied under Henry Mosler, Paris, 1882-'83. Member of the Ladies' Art Association of New York." [P. XXXIV.]
