"Born in Paris, 1839. Began his artistic life in 1873, in Baltimore. First exhibited, 1875, at the National Academy, New York. Elected A.N.A., 1879; N.A., 1886. Died, May, 1886." [P. XLVI; illustration depicts view of channel with coast in middle distance. Numerous sailboats and various rigs dot the water, which appears rough and agitaed. Effects of cloud and wind fill the atmosphere.]
