"b. Hartford, Conn., 1842. Pupil of William Hart, N.A., New York; Andreas Achenbach, Dusseldorf, and Clays, of Brussels. spent twelve years in study in Europe. First exhibited, in the Salon, Paris, 1875. " An old windmill. A quiet, lazy afternoon - not a breath of air stirring, characteristically Hollandish in sentiment, and one of Mr. Bunce's best pictures." [P. 81.]
