"Marblehead neck, Massachusetts, by M.F.H. de Haas, N.A., was painted for the Louisville exhibition of Art Union pictures, and represents Mr. de Haas at his best. The sky is full of moving clouds, and one can fairly feel the force of the waves dashing against the rocks. - the Art Union, June, 1884." [P. 28; see serial 03860083 for commentary on artist. Illustration depicts marine expanse with rough waves, rocks to the right, boats in the distance, and a cloudy sky.]
