"b. Stronach, 1835. Studied sculpture under prof. stoltz, and painting in the bavarian Royal Academy and in Paris. Afterward entered the studio of Pioloty in Munich. " Truth to nature, admirable color, texture, and character, all seem to be in equal proportions to Defregger's painting. - S.G.W. Benjamin, Contemporary Art in Europe." [P. 19.]
