A fertile bit of country, watered by a narrow stream; on its green banks are reposing a group of five sheep and two goats, tended by a peasant girl. This artist confines himself entirely to these subjects, painting in a free, bold manner, which at a proper distance has the effect of the highest finish. [P. 11.]
