Entrance to the Black Valley, County Kerry, near Kildare, (painting)
Wyant, A. H.
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. 191 (Sale info: For Sale).
A narrow bridle-path, bordered by low, rough stone walls, leads to a wayside shieling, through whose heavily thatched roof the thin blue smoke is lazily curling. Deep shadows are thrown by the clouds, making strong contrasts, where they fall, to the bright all-pervading verdure, which finds its highest point in the potato-patch. A strong picture, new in its treatment for the artist. [P. 23.]
