French. 1697-1739. Pupil of his father. "His stuffs always fall in rich and heavy folds, and are most artistically arranged, and engraved in broad strokes, while the head and hands, which require greater precision of outline, are expressed by finer and closer lines, which allow more perfect and condensed shading, thus bringing the important parts of the portrait into relief.
