"The art association also claims an interest in the exhibition of the two fine portraits of the late D.T. Newcomb and his surviving consort, a benefactress of the academy (and indirectly of the art association). These pictures, by Platt, of Davenport, are donated to the Academy of Sciences by Mrs. Newcomb, and are worthily given a place of honor in the rotunda of the building."
