"The artist was born in Antwerp in 1599. He was for some time a pupil of Reubens. He went to England in 1632, where he painted the portraits of the royal family and all the eminent men of England, and where he died in 1641. As a portrait painter he has scarcely ever been surpassed. From the Thompson collection, Boston."
