"This artist, who was born in 1610, was the court painter under the 'grand monarque,' whose portraits he frequently painted, as well as those of the leading men of France. He lived twenty-two years in Rome, and was patronized by popeS Urban XIII., Innocent X., and Alexander VII. He died in 1695."
