This is a very beautiful picture, and in the happiest style of the artist. It is difficult to conceive anything more tender, more soft, rich, and round than these figures, without the slightest harshness of outline. The flesh tone is incomparably clear and delicate, and well worthy the closest study. It has been remarked that in point of color it is worthy of Titian himself. [P. 13.]
