"The Offer of the Crown to Lady Jane Grey." The Dukes of Suffolk and Northumberland kneel and offer the Crown to the Lady Jane Grey. Behind her stand her young husband and other members of the Privy Council, with countenances expressive of surprise and disappointment at her refusal. The locality is the chapel of Sion House, with a Gothic window in the background. Painted by Copley, and exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, in 1809. [P. 13.]
