"37 x 42. A very good work. Painted in Florence in 1845. A young woman listening devoutly to the instruction of a bearded sage, who is explaining the crucifixion from an illuminated volume. Exhibited at the British Institution, London." [Price and buyer noted in contemporary hand.]
