This painting of the Valley of the Yosemite is considered the crowning effort of Bierstadt's power. The waterfall seen in foreground to the left, represents the highest and most remarkable waterfall in the world, "The Yosemite Falls." To the left and right of the valley are seen the great sentinels of the river, "The Domes of the Yosemite." It is impossible to look on this picture and not be impressed with the vastness and grandness of the wonderful region depicted. [P. 393.]
