The author of this important picture, and of several others in this exhibition, is an American who for several years, was the friend and companion of Ed. Frere. Mr. Thom has for some time resided in France and England, where his works have a standard value. He has now returned to his native country. The replicate of this interesting picture of the Shepherds was chosen out of a recent London Royal Academy exhibition for two hundred guinea prize of the London Art Union. [P. 24.]
