By the side of Jules Breton, in all these finer qualities of color, drawing, and sentiment, which makes a great artist, stands Gustave Brion. He was born in the Vosges, and makes the social life of that region, so picturesque in architecture and costume, the subject of his pictures. Mr. Knoedler bought this picture from the easel of its author. It is one of the most interesting pictures ever offered for sale in this country. For Sale, $4,000, gold. [P. 19.]
