The following description has been written of this picture: "the scene represents the lifting of a heavy shower. Through the pools of water, made by the rain on this dreary plain, the great wagon, with its picturesque team of five horses, comes thundering and splashing along. The clearing up of the raincloud has been most felicitously rendered by the artist, and all the details of the principal objects have been worked out with great skill." [P. 13.]
