Villegas is a Spanish painter, who has made for himself a world-wide fame by wonderfully painted pictures of color. He choses those subjects which permit the introduction of positive colors, and then he exhausts the resources of the palette in the use of them. The picture sent to this exhibition is one of the largest, most elaborately finished, and most rich in color of all the works of Villegas. [P. 11.]
