By means of the photograph and engraving, as well as by his original pictures, the reputation of this master has been spread throughout America. His pictures are always bought long before they are finished, and at enormous prices. This is one of Gerome's most effective works, and comes from the private collection of a gentleman now absent in Europe. [P. 6.]
