Notes:
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. [not numbered]
Among the contributions of Dr. J.M. Frey, of Sacramento, we find several relics of considerable value. The "Descent from the Cross" and the "Marriage of St. Catherine," the mother of the Blessed Virgin, are two very rare old paintings, supposed to have been surreptitiously taken from a Mexican church. The coloring and drawing of the figures are very truthful and expressive. [P. 218; see entry 02620131 for other work noted in this commentary.]
