The "Portrait of Rev. Mr. Hill" is a good likeness having great depth of color, but is deficient in finish. A little more labor and care would have improved it. It hangs in a bad light and entirely too high to be properly viewed in the limited distance of eight feet--the width of the corridor. [P. 214; entries 02620059, 02620060, 02620061, and 02620062 were exhibited together as: "Crayon sketches."]
