Exhibition Catalogs
Date:
1876
Notes:
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. [not numbered]
Besides this highly creditable production, the artist has on exhibition several other original studies executed in black and white crayons. The "Scene in the Arctic Regions" is a striking picture from its novelty, but one that we are not qualfified to appreciate from the fact that we have no practical knowledge of those icy regions of the earth. Judging from the illustrations of the works of Dr. Kane and others, on the Arctic Seas, we may presume the representation to be good. The lowering clouds certainly present a cold and chilling aspect. This picture is commendable for its general tone and breadth of effect, entirely in keeping with the subject.
