Notes:
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. [not numbered]
Two large pictures entered by Mrs. Alex. J. Brand, attract a good deal of notice. One represents the interior of a peasant home, with a pretty bare-armed and bare-footed maiden, seated by a hearth fire. The other depicts a lady leaning in an "il penserosa" attitude on a balcony surrounded by woodland, and gazing into distance. Both pictures are executed in that high-colored and showy manner which seems so popular now-a-days. They are handsome works for room adornment, and are said to be by a European artist. [P. 47; see entry 02590022 for other work noted in this commentary.]
